Hi, grown-ups!
We’re a family who started Pip to answer our own kids’ questions. Here’s exactly how it works.
Who makes Pip?
Pip Explains is made by a parent (that’s Pop, Pip’s dad, at the end of every video). Our kids ask us questions like “why doesn’t a haircut hurt?” at dinner, and Pip is how we answer them.
How each episode is made
- A real question. Every episode answers a question kids really ask, the kind ours ask us at dinner.
- AI helps with the drawing and the voice. Pip is drawn in code and speaks with an AI voice. We say so openly, in every outro.
- A parent checks every fact. Facts are checked against real sources, which are listed on every episode page under “How we know.”
- A parent watches every video before it goes up.
What’s in an episode
One big question, a surprising fact in the first few seconds, real science words (introduced gently, then reviewed), a real-life example, something to try at home together, and a quiz. Most episodes are about 5 minutes long, made for curious kids about 5 to 10.
Safety and privacy
- Our YouTube videos are set as made for kids.
- This website has no ads and no tracking cookies. Videos play from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode, and only after you press play.
- Kids can watch, play the quizzes and read everything here without an account. We don’t collect anything from kids.
- Accounts are for grown-ups only, and we only use your email to send you what you asked for. Read the full privacy promise.
